sush is back

The actress, who has been on a rather long hiatus from films, was spotted gyrating to a dance number on the sets of her forthcoming movie Do Knot Disturb at a studio in Mumbai on Thursday.

The movie, which also stars Govinda and Reitesh Deshmukh, is produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by David Dhawan.

John joins Danny

Headlines had it that Oscar winner filmmaker Danny Boyle is soon going to make a Mumbai-based movie, ‘Bombay Velvet’, with Aamir and Shah Rukh. Now the latest to join the bandwagon is John Abraham.

The air has also been cleared with the confirmation of Aamir Khan in the movie. Initially it was rumoured that John was replaced by Aamir. But the rumour has also been erased.

The movie is going to be directed by Anurag Kashyap, who had worked with John in ‘No Smoking’. So naturally, the director’s first preference went to rope in John for ‘Bombay Velvet’, who had shared good rapport with the actor before. It was Anurag’s a kind of gesture to repay John for acting in ‘No Smoking’. After 10 years of struggle in the film industry, John was the first hero who took Anurag seriously, sources said.

Now in ‘Bombay Velvet’ the first part will have Shah Rukh Khan, the second John Abraham and finally Aamir Khan to complete the third part. It is said that John will be donning the character of a real-life 1960’s hero of the masses.

Looks like we can look forward to something really big with this one

caprican,s role is tougher:priyanka

Priyanka Chopra, who is eyeing a Guinness record by playing 12 brides-in-waiting in Ashutosh Gowariker's What's your Rashee, says this is one feat she would love to tell her grandchildren about. The actress revealed that playing the Capricorn teenager was the most difficult of all the roles.

In What's your Rashee?, which is based on Madhu Rye's Gujarati novel Kimball Ravenswood, Priyanka plays the roles of 12 girls who meet bride-hunting NRI Yogesh Patel played by Hurman Baweja.

"The role of the Capricorn girl was toughest for me," said the actress, who walked the red carpet at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday with co-star Hurman and Gowariker.

In the film, the Capricorn girl named Jhankhana is just 15 years old. "To play a 15-year-old girl without make-up or special effects to make me look younger was the most challenging role for me. I had to look 15 years old just through my body language. I didn't want any of the l2 girls to be caricatures or not look real," Priyanka said.

The former Miss World said she had to make subtle variations in her walk, talk and mannerisms to portray each of the 12 characters. "I used a lot of voice variations, but at the same time I didn't want to sound fake.

"The only thing I could change was clothes, hair, the body language and the way I speak," she said.

The Bollywood actress, who is set to enter the Guinness Book of Records for playing 12 female roles in a film, laughed and said: "It is not official yet. Yes, it is great even to be considered that I am the first female actor in the world to have played that many parts. It is fantastic...it is something that I would like to tell my grandkids."

Priyanka said playing multiple roles in the movie was "one of the greatest six months of my life. It was the most daunting task of my life so far".

But she added she was lucky to get multiple roles very early in her career. "Usually, the actors who have played multiple roles have been very experienced. For me, this is a huge honour."

Priyanka said she now believes in sun sign compatibility in her real life as well. "Before this movie, I used to read horoscopes in the morning just out of curiosity and to get some fun. However, my logical mind refused to believe how everyone in the entire world can be clubbed into just 12 groups."

But once she started doing this movie and researching on the characteristics of each sun sign, she said, she started believing that human beings under same sun signs have some common traits.

"I am a Cancerian born in July...I have met so many people from across the world under this sun sign. Uncannily, they have similar characteristics like me - being emotional, homely. There is something about it (sun signs) for sure," Priyanka said.

Sushmita is back!

This of course, barring the passable international film Karma, Confessions and Holi, which the former beauty queen vehemently denied being associated with.

“Yes, it’s been long since I have seen me on screen too,” she jokes. Having shed the extra weight she’d had to gain for a movie role, the leggy beauty’s looking her usual svelte self. “Sexy, sensuous, gorgeous, it’s all about what’s up here,” she says, pointing towards her head. But now she’s ready to put her sexiest foot forward, as she readies to make up for her long absence with two back-to-back films coming up and a string of flicks lined up next year as well.

Kickstarting with Do Knot Disturb, followed by Dulha Mil Gaya and later No Problem, Sush also seems to have finally found her forte - comedy. But point this out and she is quick to clarify, “I don’t want to be bound down by genres. But yes, I am really tired of consolation prizes and do want to sign up more commercial films. I am done with the experimenting phase,” she says, reflecting on her choice of films post Main Hoon Na.

And though she doesn’t regret her choices, she does admit that several have left a bitter taste. “I gave up a lot of roles to do films that I thought would bring out the actress rather than the heroine in me,” she says candidly. “But today is different. Now I want to go in for the kill, at least that’s the idea,” she asserts the fighting spirit in her. Keen to repeat the success, she tasted with her early attempts at comedy, now she is looking forward to silencing her detractors once again.

Looking back at the past two years, Sush was kept busy by the constant speculation revolving around her personal life and professional. But she always maintained a dignified silence, whether it was talks about her weight gain - which she had incidentally gained to play the role of a hatti katti wife opposite Govinda in Do Knot... - or about her on-and-off relationship with filmmaker Mudassar or even her ambitious project Rani Laxmi Bai and more recently reports of tension between her and good friend Shah Rukh Khan. “I am very vocal, but not reactive. I don’t believe in feeding rubbish stories. Sometimes being the silent puppy is the ultimate diva act,” she says, dismissing the apparent fight with SRK as a rumour.

However, talk about her pet project Rani Laxmi Bai and she reveals that she’s happy at the moment to watch the historical character being revived on television. “The project is on hold and will remain so till I don’t get to make it my way.” And about her film based on the life of late Benazir Bhutto? “Well that has to be cleared by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). It’s a very controversial film so the moment we get a clearance, the project will be on,” she confirms.

Till then she’s happy with the films on her platter and a “gorgeous daughter” to keep her busy back home. “Oh, she’s a very sharp girl. In fact, I learn a lot from her each day,” says the proud mamma. But between the mom-daughter duo does the father talk ever crop up. “Renee would surely like to have a father, but she doesn’t miss one yet. Often I tease her about getting her married off, and she’s quick to retort, ‘Not before you get married first,’ so yes, that’ll happen sometime too. We will definitely get a dad for Renee.” But who and when? “Well, that’s not something I am revealing yet,” she smiles.

Bebo bitten by Blackberry bug

Kareena Kapoor's birthday is still a week away (on September 21) but she has already started getting gifts.

As a kid, Bebo used to love it when she got an early gift from dear friend and designer Shabina Khan. Now, Shabina has gifted the actress a Blackberry phone, which was an absolutely new gadget for her.

We heard Kareena is busy these days learning to operate the phone. She is totally worked up about the new gadget and is busy informing all her contacts about it.

Also, she will be able to chat more often with beau Saif Ali Khan.

Bebo, however, claims she is not a gadget-freak.

Lara’s weight bowls David Dhawan

These days the comedy king David Dhawan is going gaga over his ‘Do Knot Disturb’ leading lady. Lara Dutta seems to have won over David with her striking acting skills. He was highly impressed with her performance in Salmam-Govinda starrer ‘Partner’ and thus had offered her ‘Do Knot Disturb’. Not only that! The famous director was equally bowled over her weight! Says sources, “David calls Lara Perfect Miss 58 and is completely amazed how the actress has maintained 58 kilos for last six years.”

Well, this former Miss Universe truly has a hot body and now we know how Lara wins over her directors!

However, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ has another ex-Miss Universe too! Sushmita Sen does share an equally important role in the movie. The two beauties will be co-starring with Govinda, Ritesh Deshmukh and Sohail Khan.

Another interesting aspect of this movie is that the nineties' famous musical trio Nadeem-Shravan-Sameer, is back after a long time in this one. Though the Lyricist Sameer was active, Nadeem-Shravan are giving their compositions together after a long gap of five years.

Will Bollywood accept unconventional me, asks Miss India

Will Bollywood accept unconventional me, asks Miss India .An unconventional Miss India with short hair and six tattoos, Ekta Chaudhary wonders if Bollywood is ready to accept her atypical looks and personality in case she decides to follow in the footsteps of many of her famous predecessors. She also sees an element of "racism" in no Asian girl making it to the final 15 of the Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas last month.

"I am not like other models who have long hair. I have six tattoos and I am not planning to grow my hair in the near future. This makes me very different from my contemporaries and even if I wish to work in Bollywood some day, I m wondering whether there would be a role to suit my unconventional looks," Ekta told IANS in an interview. "If yes, then I don t mind working in a film, especially if it is opposite Abhay Deol. I just love him. He is simply superb and a very good actor as well," she said. Ekta participated in the Miss Universe contest in the Bahamas last month but failed to get into the last 15. While she was sad at not making it to the top, Ekta said that representing India at the international level was an honour in itself.

"Well, I felt sad but not really disappointed. I was there to represent India and it was an honour for me to do so. What was disheartening was that none of the Asian girls made it to the final 15. It was a shock for all of us," the 22-year-old beauty said. "There were definitely many beautiful girls around. But aren t Asian girls beautiful? There should have been at least one Asian girl in the final list. It is ridiculous! If such things happen in an international pageant then we have every right to call them racist," she added.

According to Ekta, the women who were eliminated from the list of the finalists were not given a fair chance. "We didn t get the opportunity to walk the ramp in front of millions of people...be it the audience or the people back home glued to their television screens. The decision was made and people didn t even get to see us. It was not at all fair because at least one should have got the opportunity to watch us on the ramp," the Miss India rued. The leggy lass now plans a return to the ramp as she calls it her "first love".

"I love walking on the ramp. I just love it. You can also call it my first love. Very soon you will see me on the ramp. Also I would like to do some commercials but the most important thing for me right now is to start looking out for international projects. Let s see what happens," Ekta said. The Miss India has earlier walked the ramp for Ritu Kumar, Zubair Kirmani and designer duo Rahul-Gunjan amongst others.

Modern Bandit Queens Inspired by Aishwarya Rai

A filmi story took on a real life turn when 4 women, inspired by an Aishwarya Rai character, took to stealing and became bandit queens. They would spend their days as perfect wives and mothers – cooking cleaning and playing with their children - but when the sun had set, they would come out to play by themselves. The leader was Geeta and they were a gang of women thieves, inspired, they say, by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's role as Sunehri in Dhoom 2.

The women who included Geeta (30), Kela (32), Sheela (20) and Ompati (40) raided warehouses and in particular stole batteries which they could pass on easily for cash. "They had a bias for battery cells," says Inspector Raj Kumar of the Delhi police, "They would pick up boxes that contained at least 50 batteries each and sell them to a junk dealer. On an average, the gang made Rs 1 lakh a day - that is, Rs 20,000 each. We are yet to find out how many robberies they have committed."

But the story is not as straightforward as it looks at first sight. Coming from the Sansi tribe, on the fringe of society with little opportunity for jobs or access to social care, the women were trapped inside miserable lives with husbands who were alcoholics or drug addicts. Faced with the choice of steadily decaying lives or giving themselves a chance for escape, they understandably chose the latter. "To survive and feed their families, they first worked as ragpickers and also committed some petty thefts," explains DCP Aggarwal, "Then Geeta met a woman who motivated them to commit bigger crimes and gave them the example of Dhoom-2 in which a woman thief takes advantage of her gender."

Mandira stuns Kolkata with her cleavage display

She can easily give Mallika Sherawat or Riya Sen a run for their money. Yes, we are talking about the one and only Mandira Bedi who keeps on making amazing comebacks just when her name start dwindling away from public memory. Mandira set the ramp on fire with her sizzling looks and awesome cleavage display. She walked on ramp wearing Satya Paul's black zari saree. in a low cut blouse. People were stunned by the 37 year old actress' bold look as she showcased the brand and its collections based on hand weaving, celebrating its twenty fifth year. Mandira who was born in Kolkata said it was a special feeling for her to walk the ramp in the city as it held a special place in her heart.

Bong bombshell Bipasha is the hottest celeb

Hot bollywood siren Bipasha Basu has topped the list of Hot 100 celebs in a forthcoming issue of Maxim Magazine.

The bong beauty has surpassed all other sexy beauties of B-town to grab the No 1 slot.

“I find it a huge compliment to be in the No 1 position in Maxim’s Hot 100 especially as it has a worldwide circulation,” says Bipasha Basu.

Bipasha would next be seen in her latest flick Lamha where she is playing a tortured, ordinary Kashmiri girl.

New Delhi: Bollywood bombshell Bipasha Basu may be playing the deglamourised role of a housewife in her first Bengali movie but the actress says she is happy with the sexy tag as a girl-next-door look never interested her.

I love being called sexy: Bipasha

"I love being sexy and I would be happy if people call me sexy even when I turn 100. I would love to be called a sexy grandmother. The tag has never bothered me," Bipasha, who has been named one of the sexiest celebrities of Asia, told PTI in an interview. "If a woman says she does not want to be called attractive then she is foolish. I like being exclusive, the girl-next-door image has never interested me. It is too boring," the actress, who started her Bollywood career with bold characters in "Jism" and "Raaz", says.

She, however, believes "sexiness" is not only related to having a good body. "Sexiness is not only about having a great body. It is about how you carry yourself, your confidence, your self respect, these help you look attractive. I am sexy with a mind. It is a complete package."

The Bengali beauty is portraying the character of Radhika in Rituparno Ghosh's movie "Shob Charitro Kalponik", which deals with love and loss through the story of a woman, who goes on a path of self discovery after the death of her poet-husband.
