Asin getting too close to her enemies!

Seems like the Bollywood honeymoon is still not over for Asin Thottumkal, as the sinfully delicious actress seriously feels that actress can compete for the same roles and still be friends.
After being in news [^] for sharing a dozen SMS everyday with Ranbir Kapoor’s girlfriend Deepika Padukone, Asin is hitting the airwaves again for being buddies with Anil Kapoor’s little girl, Sonam Kapoor.

Being friends with Deepika and Sonam connects her with two of the most influential Kapoor clan of the Bollywood industry. Asin is a smart girl who knows to connect with the right people to move up in Bollywood.

At 23, Asin may be young, but she is definitely not naïve. A superstar down south long before Deepika and Sonam even signed their first films, Asin has been doing movies ever since she was 15 years old. She is well aware that her competitions in Bollywood are the young breed of actresses, not the established ones.

All this talk of being friends with Deepika and Sonam, doesn’t go down too well if one remembers Asin’s spat with Genelia. Ms Congeniality Asin gets her claws out at the mention of Genelia.

Asin seems to be following the saying 'keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Priyanka defeats Kareena on web

Well Kareena Kapoor recently said that twittering and computers are only for people who have no work to do, while commenting on Pritish Nandy’s rude remarks on her and Kambakkht Ishq made on Twitter.

Hmm… well Kareena needs to set up her own twitter account because the world really swings that way and it’s the best way to tell the world what you are up-to and make contacts like the way Priyanka Chopra is doing.

We recently heard via Twitter that Priyanka Chopra and UK-based pop star Jay Sean are planning to work together, well there goes Kareena's theory on Twitter and ‘having no work to do.’ Jay, it is learnt, is smitten by Priyanka Chopra and wants her for his new album.

The actress is well known to be a big fan of Jay Sean’s music and gets VIP enclosure for his performances. They are said to be active friends and share a mutual understanding and trust level, as Jay told Priyanka Chopra on Twitter that no matter what, he will ‘steal’ her for his video!

So well, Kareena can lay to rest all her inhibitions about Twitter being a place meant for nerds and people who have nothing to do! Though being miles apart Priyanka Chopra and Jay have bonded well and are known to exchange pleasantries over the web.

Jay Sean has earlier worked with the sultry Bipasha Basu who made a guest appearance in his music video Stolen. The track Stolen is from Jay Sean's debut album Me Against Myself, released in 2004.

Rani Mukherjee ready to leave Aditya's banner

Many have written off the once Bollywood queen Rani Mukherjee [^], saying that her decision to only do film by her alleged man Aditya Chopra's production house [^] Yash Raj Films, has sink her career. However, sources said that Rani is ready to do films for other banners too. In fact, she is said to be reading scripts by other banners.

The only reason that holds Rani from signing for other banners is that the scripts are not that challenging and interesting. She is ready [^] to wait for good [^] roles and follow her heart instead of signing films whatever come her way.

Well, Rani is all set to bounce back with Dil Bole Hadippa, where she acts with Shahid Kapoor. She is said to have done a wonderful job. In the film [^], she even disguised herself as a man to enter an all-male soccer team. Sources said that she worked very hard to get a perfect figure for a song sequence with Shahid. It is said that she even wears a bikini in an item number.

Watch out for this Bollywood beauty!

Priyanka Chopra at war with Katrina?

Speculations are rife that Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra [^] and Katrina Kaif [^] are at war fighting [^] for the top position. Adding more fuel to the fire, it was reported that Katrina has replaced Priyanka in the hit film Dostana by Karan Johar.

However, Priyanka, who is basking on the stupendous success of Kaminey, denied having cold vibes with Katrina. She said that she has no problem with Katrina and that her character in Dostana [^] had reached the end, as depicted at the end of the film [^]. She added that every actor is a competitor including Katrina.

It's worth mentioning that Priyanka and Katrina are the top heroines in Bollywood today. But who is the No.1? You decide!

Kareena isn't trustworthy for Saif

Well before you let your imagination run [^] wild let us make it clear Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor [^] very much trust each other. But in the spy thriller Agent Vinod Saif faces the dilemma when it comes to trusting Kareena. The Sriram Raghavan [^] directed Agent Vinod is said to be modelled James [^] Bond series and is being produced by Saif Ali Khan [^] himself.

Saif plays a spy in the movie while Kareena works for the villain. Saif's character has to find out whether Kareena is a real baddie or a victim of the villain. Surprisingly Kareena and Saif aren't romantically involved in the movie. That sounds strange as there has been a lot of talk regarding the lovemaking scene between the two.

Bebo was my support system: Shahid

Itna reality check tha mujhe ki she was Raj Kapoor’s grand-daughter, her sister was Karisma Kapoor. I had danced behind Karisma in Dil to Pagal hai. I knew ki yeh tho issue hone wala hai ... mujhe itni akal thi.”

Tere Mere Beach Mein host Farah asked if there were pressures on the relationship after his films flopped, “Lekin har flop ke baad, aur usmein kuch problem hiu ...

Shahid interrupted, “She had become my support system, yaar. I think emotionally she had become my support system to aisa koi chance nahin tha ... yeh life mein real cheezein toh relationships hi hoti hain, success failure sab kab aata hai, kab jaata hai pata bhi nahin chalta hai. Relationships aisi cheez hai, they stand by you with time so you have to give priority to your relationship.”

Post Kareena, Shahid has earned the playboy image

After his relationship with Kareena Kapoor ended, Shahid Kapoor has earned himself a playboy image. He’s been linked with almost every heroine that he works with, including Vidya Balan, Amrita Rao, Priyanka Chopra and even Sania Mirza.

Recently at a press conference, the press went on with their usual questions about the numerous linkups. Shahid joked that since he had been supposedly serial-dating for the last three years, he was now an expert on all things romantic and hence was soon going to write a book and reveal all.

Shahid went home giggling about his joke but the comment reached some publishers who got in touch with his publicist, asking for the rights of this book.

Three: Love, Lies and Bakwas

t's like watching someone bake a classic chocolate cake. You know the ingredients. You know the recipe. You know the technique. Heck, you even know the taste. Only there's nothing classic or sweet about Vikram Bhatt's [ Images ] Three-Love, Lies and Betrayal, directed by his assistant, Vishal Pandya.

Even though you know exactly where the plot is headed, the predictability hits a sour note every few minutes with its implausible backdrop and inconsistent screenplay.

Set in the picturesque town of Inverness, Scotland, this charmless rehash of A Perfect Murder chronicles the lives of a violin tutor Anjani Dutt (Nausheen Ali Sardar) and her unsuccessful software engineer husband, Rajeev Dutt (Akshay Kapoor). To think they live in a fancy mansion worth billions, Anjani and Rajeev are shown going through a major financial crisis. That explains why Nausheen sports the same brown outfit and white overcoat throughout the film. And the Chanel-monogrammed purse is obviously phony.

Since Anjani refuses to sell this ostentatious property to bail Rajeev out -- it's the only keepsake of her deceased parent's memory and childhood; their marital relationship gets rough and abusive. That, however, is least of Pandya's concerns. Three, conveniently and obstinately, overlooks at any development that deviates from the upcoming angle of extortion and scandal. Instead he engages himself in introducing the third side of this confused triangle, Sanjay (Ashish Chowdhry) -- paying guest in the Dutt chateau.

Unlike the proverbial mystery man, Sanjay is sleazily upfront and visibly deceptive. Seeing as you know where it's all going, Sanjay uses Anjani's marriage woes as license to seduce her. And before you know it, they are an item.

All this time, Rajeev's reactions are unbelievably baffling. In one reel, he growls, grunts and turns into a violent wife-beater. In the next scene, the couple behaves as if nothing ever happened. Not even the news of his wife's affair bothers him. Schizophrenic script apart, once the betrayals are underway, Three gets convoluted and cheesy to the point of no return.

Nausheen Ali SardarThere have been times when good performances have salvaged a badly-written movie. This is not one of them. Considering that neither of the actors have a powerful screen presence or exceptional acting skills, Three is mostly a tedious experience. Added to which, there's no chemistry between the actors -- whether married or cheating.

Nausheen isn't a bad actress (her make-up is!) but addresses her complex confident yet needy character with such stern monotony, it's impossible to render a sense of sympathy. As for the men, both Akshay Kapoor and Ashish Chowdhry are on two ends of the emoting spectrum. While Akshay sticks to a safe frown or an occasional sulk, Ashish is nauseatingly hyper (read overacts).

Speaking of exaggeration, the dialogues, wherein humour translates to distorting nursery rhymes and risqué amounts to 'Maine teri wife ko nanga dekha hai' reek of 'ewww'.

Scotland is breathtaking scenic, especially the Highlands, where Three has been extensively shot. Pravin Bhatt's cinematography does an adequate if not inspiring job of capturing it in frame. Although for a thriller, Three looks terribly lackluster. It could work better with a lot more edgy angles and feisty camera play.

What's good? That's a tough one. Let's see. Besides a crumb of Scotland darshan, the eclectic soundtrack by Chirantan Bhatt has its moments. Can't say the same about Three -- Love, Lies and Bakwas.

Pick your contestant with Big B on Bigg Boss

The promos announcing Bachchan’s association with Bigg Boss will begin on September 7.

In this season of Bigg Boss, Bachchan will be playing the role of ‘Pop Philosopher’ - a unique concept that will be one of the differentiators of this season. As ‘Pop Philosopher’, Big B will bridge the gap between ‘Bigg Boss’ participants and viewers – through contextualising events, simplifying emotions and most importantly, analysing developments that happen within the ‘Bigg Boss’ house.

Speaking of the development, Rajesh Kamat, Chief Executive Officer, Colors, said, “We want to take Bigg Boss to even higher level this year – in ratings, in novelty and in appeal. With Mr. Bachchan on board, and playing the ‘Pop Philosopher’, we strongly believe that ‘Bigg Boss’ this year has all the ingredients to surpass its last year’s popularity.” He further added, “It is our honour to have Mr. Bachchan on-board and we look forward to him providing his inimitable touch to one of our most popular format shows.”

Talking of his association with Bigg Boss, Bachchan commented, “This is one show that has intrigued me immensely as a viewer — its format, its contestants and the psychological battle within the house. That intrigue, coupled with the unique concept that Colors shared with me for this season, excited me to be a part of ‘Bigg Boss’ this year.” He further added, “I am looking forward to my role that gives me the unique opportunity to help viewers decode emotions and comprehend simple philosophies of life (without getting philosophical).”

Another exciting element in this year’s Bigg Boss is the opportunity that viewers will get to decide who they want to see in the Bigg Boss house. Bachchan will soon urge the viewers to send in their entries and on that basis, the channel will try and get a few of those personalities into the Bigg Boss house. This will be the first time in the history of Bigg Boss (or Big Brother) that viewers get a chance to decide who they’d like to see inside the Bigg Boss house, as inmates.

Mr. Bachchan commented, “I am excited to begin with them (the channel), a new journey of ‘rediscovery’ and ‘reinvention’ of my own abilities and in the process, meaningfully entertain millions of my fans.”

‘Bigg Boss’ presents the unique combination of reality and real unscripted drama. It is the ultimate reality show where 14 handpicked strangers are locked in a house, for close to 85 days – with 35 cameras following their every move 24x7 and Bigg Boss, the ultimate authority in the house who ensures that their stay is anything but comfortable. As the 14 hand picked contestants vie with each other to survive in the Bigg Boss house, irritation, backbiting and backstabbing reach its prime. This is one show that brings out the best and the worst side of contestants.

Arjun Rampal's choosy about his Lap dance

Arjun Rampal and AD Singh's new nightclub Lap, which just opened in New Delhi with a power party that included Shah Rukh Khan, Parmeshwar Godrej, Karan Johar and Kalyani Chawla, is gonna play hard to get when it comes to membership.

Arjun Rampal and AD Singh's new nightclub Lapis gonna play hard to get when it comes to membership.

Arjun told DNA that all entries would be strictly by invitation and would be decided by a special panel. No wonder even the likes of Parmeshwar Godrej seem interested in getting a membership.

The nightclub, apart from a general area, has a private space with a cluster of 11 special tables. Arjun chose three of his friends -- Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani and Gauri Khan (Shah Rukh's wife) to design them, and even did one himself with the help of friend Vikram Chatwal.

While Gauri's designed a chest of drawers and chandeliers, Rohit Bal's theme is black and white in art deco. Tarun has a 'fishy' design with scales and the works. The launch party itself was quite something.

Rani Mukerji stretches it

Wonder how Rani Mukerji got to shed all those kilos before stepping in front of the camera for her film Dil Bole Hadippa? Regular yoga sessions and a carefully manipulated weight training programme seem to have done the trick.

Sources say that it took Rani over a year to knock off about 10 kilos that was making her look a little bloated in front of the camera. Rani had hired a team of experts to get into her new slim avatar which included fitness instructor Satyajit Churasia and yoga teacher Payal Gidwani.

Satyajit Chaurasia is the celebrity trainer who was the brain and hands behind Aamir Khan's six-pack figure in Ghajini.

Says Satyajit, "Rani has been working out (with me) for a long time now. But it was in April last year that she decided to tone up and lose the flab. Thus, we devised a combination of cardio and weight training for Rani. She walks on the treadmill for 45 minutes and does weight training for 30 minutes for five days a week."

But that was not all, there were some rigorous sessions of workout as well. "Rani also did as many as 300 to 500 stomach crunches everyday. And the session would end with stretching exercises. Rani is a very diligent person. The progress might be slow but due to her extra care about her exercising regime, she lost a lot of inches around her waist."

As for Payal Gidwani, she has been previously famous for Kareena's controversial size zero look for the film Tashan.

She reveals, "When I initially started teaching yoga to Rani, it was tough. She had no stamina and there were problems with her nerves, so she would often get cramps. Thus, I conjured up a two hour regime for her that included 45 minutes of walking and one hour 15 minutes of yoga. Slowly, her body began to showresults and we stuck to our schedule. There was no need tointroduce power yoga as the desired results were visible. Rani now enjoys yoga a lot."

Workout regime:
Treadmill: 45 minutes
Weight training: 30 mins (5 days/week)
Stomach Crunches: 300-500
Walking: 45 minutes
Yoga: 75 minutes

Kareena's special bond with her niece

Guess who Kareena Kapoor runs to when she wants to get out of the "daily grind" of Bollywood? It's her four-year-old niece Samaira!

<

Kareena Kapoor

Mausi's muse: Samaira Kapoor

"She was literally born into my arms! Being with her makes me forget who I am and the daily grind my profession makes me go through. Watching her grow up is such a great experience. We talk to each other a lot and she always likes to tell me what happened at her dance classes," says Kareena.

According to Bebo, Samaira has already developed a great ear for music. "The moment she hears a good number, she dances to it. This is a sure indicator to me about how the track would fare in the long run. She likes to draw too, you know," says the indulgent mausi.

If she depends on her niece to judge a music number, then it's her elder sister she turns to when it comes to deciding film projects. "It's true that it was Lolo (Karisma) who told me to take up the movie opposite Salman. I have been watching Salman since I was nine years old and an earlier movie with him didn't do as expected. But she insisted that I take up Main Aur Mrs Khanna because it had a great script and also because she felt I would look very good with Salman. I trusted her blindly on that."

While she's known to keep social networking sites at arm's length, Kareena reveals she has made up her mind to jump in very soon. "I am not on any social networking site at the moment but very soon I will register on a few of them. Everybody tells me that my fans need to get in touch with me directly and I have made up my mind to do that before my other film Qurban releases."

For the time being, Kareena has set up a google alert in her name. "Whenever my name appears on any online media, I get a link to it in my mailbox. It's a pretty scary thing because I wake up to read so many things which are not true. You either need to forget that stuff or just laugh it off," she ends.

Piggy Chops to top the records

Hardly would have this actress dreamt of making it to the Guinness records one day. Priyanka Chopra topped the gossip pages with her 12 characters in Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘What’s Your Rashee?’ Now the latest is that her multi-attempt has made the producer Sunita Gowariker to approach the officials of the prestigious records.

The producer said to sources, “Priyanka has not only played 12 different roles, but breathed life into 12 distinct characters without the aide of any prosthetics. Few people realise how difficult a challenge it is. This we gauged when we spoke to the Guinness officials. No actor has ever played so many different roles in cinema of any language. So it truly is a world record.”

Meanwhile the actress is quite elated about the news and said to be saying, “If this does happen, it will be phenomenal. I’m overjoyed and honoured to be a part of this record-breaking film.”

If one goes by movie-list, both of Indian and International ones, it would be hard to find any actor donning so many roles, as many as 12 roles. In ‘What’s Your Rashee?’, Priyanka will be featured as 12 different girls under each zodiac signs respectively.

Way to go, Piggy Chops!

Shilpa Shetty to shut up for 'wellness course'

Shilpa Shetty is observing a mauna vrat (vow of silence) as part of a wellness course that she is pursuing in Oneness University on the outskirts of Chennai and says it helped her to connect with herself.

"I've taken out some 'me' time. I have been so busy with people, things and attaining my goals that I had forgotten about myself. This place has helped me get in touch with myself. You must be intrigued how, well right now am doing a mauna, that is, where I am not allowed to talk to anyone, so practicing that, it's difficult but enjoying it," Shilpa posted on www.shilpashettylive.com/blog.

"Not allowed to take any calls... could only check my emails," she added.

The 34-year-old actress, who is a fitness and spirituality freak, says she seeks solace there in the company of her gurus -- Amma and Bhagvan. "I follow their advice blindly, and it's made a huge difference in my life, work and relationships," she said.

Shilpa has gone there for a special course to rejuvenate herself after a "hectic six months".

"This silence is so rare to find in our fast paced lives. It just comforts. There are no luxuries and that makes you value everything that you have. It's also a cleansing process, which I feel we all need from time to time. The beauty is that the process is a spiritual journey without preaching.

"I would prescribe this place for anyone who needs a break and a different and positive way to living life," she said.

I love being called sexy: Bipasha

ollywood bombshell Bipasha Basu may be playing the deglamourised role of a housewife in her first Bengali movie but the actress says she is happy with the 'sexy' tag as a girl-next-door look never interested her.

"I love being sexy and I would be happy if people call me sexy even when I turn 100. I would love to be called a sexy grandmother. The tag has never bothered me," Bipasha, who has been named one of the sexiest celebrities of Asia, told PTI in an interview.

"If a woman says she does not want to be called attractive then she is foolish. I like being exclusive, the girl-next-door image has never interested me. It is too boring," the actress, who started her Bollywood career with bold characters in "Jism" and "Raaz", says.

She, however, believes "sexiness" is not only related to having a good body.

"Sexiness is not only about having a great body. It is about how you carry yourself, your confidence, your self respect, these help you look attractive. I am sexy with a mind. It is a complete package."

The Bengali beauty is portraying the character of Radhika in Rituparno Ghosh's movie "Shob Charitro Kalponik", which deals with love and loss through the story of a woman, who goes on a path of self discovery after the death of her poet-husband.

Bipasha believes as an actor in Bollywood one has to work within set parameters.

"You try to do your best in the set parameters. The limitations are too many because as an actor it is tough to go without the support of audiences," she says.

The actress, who is a fitness freak in real life, is playing the character of a gym-instructor in Ajay Devgan starrer "All the Best".

"I am a gym-instructor and the wife of Ajay's character in the movie. It is an out-and-out comedy. I laughed my heart out while shooting," she says about the Rohit Shetty-directed movie, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan and Mugdha Godse among others.

Bipasha will also be seen in Priyadarshan's yet-to-be-titled movie but she says it is not a comedy but a issue-based story.

The story that got Ashutosh Gowariker excited

Ashutosh Gowariker loves challenging movie-making. After making epics like Lagaan [ Images ], Swades [ Images ] and Jodhaa Akbar [ Images ], he switched to frothy romantic comedy with his forthcoming What's Your Raashee.

He has now switched right back to serious cinema. The director plans a film on the Chittagong Uprising of the early 1930s, starring Abhishek Bachchan [ Images ].

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is based on newspaper editor Manini Chatterjee's book, Do and Die: The Chittagong Uprising: 1930-34 (Penguin).

The book, published in December 1999, highlights the heroism of Indians who spearheaded the Chittagong armoury raid. It won the Bengali literary award, the Rabindra Puroskar, in 2000.

In a telephone conversation with rediff.com's Indrani Roy Mitra from her office in New Delhi [ Images ], Chatterjee tells us what we can expect from Gowariker's film:

About the Chittagong Uprising

"Many would not know that the Chittagong Uprising had a direct link with the non-violent freedom movement led by Mahatma Gandhi [ Images ]. All six leaders of the raid -- Surjya Sen, Nirmal Chandra Sen, Lokenath Bal, Ambika Chakrabarti, Ananta Singh and Ganesh Ghosh -- took part in the Gandhi-led Civil Disobedience movement of 1919."

"Thoroughly disgruntled by Gandhiji's decision to call off the movement in 1922 in the wake of the Chauri Chaura incident, these leaders, in their individual capacity as members of the district Congress committee and other mass fronts of the Congress, planned and trained for the armed attack on the Chittagong armoury, police headquarters and European club on April 18, 1930."

"The architects of the rebellion hoped it would yield them a sufficiently large quantity of arms and ammunition and that it would pave the way for a general uprising. The master planners also formed an 'army' comprising teenage recruits who were given rigorous training to take on their enemies -- the British."

What her book is about

"I am indebted to Kamini Mahadevan, former commissioning editor of Penguin, for inspiring me to write a book on the event. Moreover, Kalpana Dutta, one of the main protagonists of the second phase of the uprising, being my mother-in-law, I did not have to seek further motivation to write the book."

"I was asked by Kamini to weave in a popular fictional style into the historic event so that the book appealed to modern readers."

"I attempted to flesh out the characters who play major and minor roles in this real life drama, and narrated what happened on the night of the raid and the days and nights that followed. In fact, a major part of my book speaks about the lives of the uprising's leaders who went underground."

Chatterjee's interview with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ('Anguished' PM to Left: If you want to withdraw, so be it) for The Telegraph, Kolkata [ Images ], had made headlines in August 2007 and signalled the beginning of the end of the United Progressive Alliance [ Images ] government's relationship with the Communists.

Chatterjee visited Chittagong, which is now located in Bangladesh, to get a feel of the place. "It was a great experience," she continues. "Though Bangladesh does not have too many historic remains of the uprising, Chittagong still houses the district magistrate's bungalow and the railway club -- two most prominent witnesses to the armoury raid."

"The thrill of writing this book was stupendous. Unravelling the mystery of a forgotten chapter of Indian history gave me as much pleasure as I would have got doing an investigative story for my newspaper," adds Chatterjee, her voice tingling with excitement.

Ashutosh GowarikerWhen Ashutosh Gowariker got interested

"The first offer to make a film on the book came in 2001," recalls Chatterjee. "Digital Talks, headed by Shekhar Kapur [ Images ], signed an agreement with me. The agreement said if the company did not make a film within two years of signing the contract, the rights would revert to me. I had had no personal meeting with Kapur though."

"As no film was made, I got the rights back in 2003. In 2005, Ashutosh mentioned to me that Kapur had spoken very highly of the book and that he was keen on making a film on it."

"Ashutosh had just made Swades and I was under the impression that he would start filming my book immediately. However, he started Jodhaa Akbar instead. Riding on the success of the latter, he approached me again in 2008 and bought the rights. Though I am not willing to disclose the signing amount, let me put on record that I did not sell the right for an astronomical amount as many would presume," the journalist points out.

Chatterjee seems happy about Gowariker making the film. "I am really lucky he has taken up the project," she says. "Those who have seen Jodhaa Akbar or Lagaan know that here is a guy who has a feel for history. As a director, no one can question Ashutosh's sincerity and integrity. I am sure he will do justice to my book."

"I have full faith in him," she adds. "While writing the book, my aim was to present to my readers a less-known yet significant aspect of Indian history. Now that the book is going to be filmed, it is bound to reach a wider audience."

About Abhishek Bachchan playing the lead, Surjya Sen

"I have full confidence in Ashutosh's choice. At the moment, I don't have any issue with Abhishek Bachchan playing the lead. However, all depends on how the film turns out. My perception may change afterwards.

Rani faces the heat of the Sikhs

After Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, it is now Rani Mukherjee who is facing the heat of the Sikhs for donning imperfect turban in Yash Raj ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’. The Sikhs are annoyed with Rani's character in the film donning a patka instead of a pagdi, "Since she plays an adult Sikh who should ideally wear a turban". They are also raising objection for the use of a patka sign in place of a dot on letter 'I' in the title ‘Hadippa’.

Board chief Charan Singh Sapra met with the producer of the film Yash Chopra to discuss the issue. When contacted, Yash Raj Films' spokesperson said, "All concerns have been suitably addressed to the Board's satisfaction and as assured, necessary action will be taken.” Sikh community are miffed with repeated mistakes made by the Bollywood.

In the film, Rani is playing a Sikh muda opposite Shahid Kapu

Now showing, the Return of Shilpa's Poppadoms

ore than two years after a 'poppadom' jibe against her caused global outrage, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has announced plans to “dish out the poppadoms” to Britons.

Poppadoms - as the Indian snack papad is called in Britain - will be an important part of Shilpa's Gourmet Creations, a range of low-fat readymeals, chutneys and pickles that will be sold in British supermarkets from 2010.

The irony isn't lost on Shilpa, who was called 'Shilpa Poppadom' by the late British celebrity Jade Goody in a reality television programme in January 2007, causing outrage in India and elsewhere.

“We're dishing out poppadoms… they go really well with the curry,” Shilpa told Independent Television News (ITN).

“There was this whole connection with 'Shilpa Poppadum'… so brought back some weird memories, but we just wanted to tell people we have a good sense of humour,” she added.

Jade, who died earlier this year of cervical cancer, denied she was being racist in using the name for Shilpa in a celebrity version of Big Brother, a show where 'inmates' live together in front of television cameras.

However, Culture Minister Tessa Jowell slammed the show as “racism being presented as entertainment”.

Shetty, who along with her fiancé, entrepreneur Raj Kundra, picked up a 33 percent stake in the V8 Gourmet Group for a reported six million pounds, said last week she will keep the new range healthy.

“There is this preconceived notion that Indian food isn't very healthy. We're making sure it will be under 10 percent fat. So it's going to be a healthy choice,” she said.

The curries, which Shilpa will develop along with master chef Andy Verma, will be “less acidic and less spicy, catering to the taste buds here and keeping it authentic Indian.”

Speaking at a press conference, Shilpa quoted from her own comments made when she was voted the winner of the 2007 Celebrity Big Brother: “As I said, Chicken curry rules.”

Kangana Ranaut to play Barkha Dutt onscreen

Mumbai: Having delivered several power packed performances, Kangana Ranaut is getting all set to mesmerize the audience with yet another substantial role.

The swishy babe, who played the role of a bratty model in the award winning film ‘Fashion’, will now be seen essaying the role of tough journalist. And if sources are to be believed then Kangana’s reel role is inspired by real life journo Barkha Dutt.

According to latest Bollywood news, Kangana will be seen

playing the role opposite Sanjay Dutt and Irrfan Khan. While Sanju will be portraying the role of a police agent, Irrfan role’s is kept under wraps in this untitled production.

And since her role is based on Barkha Dutt, the lissome actress will be seen experimenting with her looks yet again. As per sources, Kangana will not only chop off her curly tresses of a smart bob but will also go for a complete wardrobe change.

What's cooking between Abhishek and Shruti?

Abhishek Kapoor (Gattu) and Shruti Hassan [^] like each other a lot but admit to little else than a mutual admiration society. The director first met the actress when he was considering her for a part in his film 3 Mistakes Of My Life, based on Chetan Bhagat's book. When the duo met, they clicked instantly. Apart from the fact that he made India's first rock film Rock On!! and she is a rock chica, they had a lot more in common.

Buzz up!
Says a source, "Gattu and Shruti are definitely interested in each other but it's too early to say if they will date. Shruti, who is somewhat of a wild child, was charmed by Gattu, who is known to be mature and balanced for his age. Gattu, too, in his way has always been attracted to beautiful, intelligent women who are known to be strong-willed. His list of women include Twinkle Khanna, Raveena Tandon and Pooja Bhatt. And Shruti seems to be his type of girl."

Elaborating on the Gattu-Shruti friendship the source adds, "Right now, they are testing the waters. They've stayed in touch after that first meeting and they often chat and exchange text messages. They are just getting to know each other and have been communicating regularly on Facebook as well. But both are being extremely cautious about their friendship right now even the normally straightforward Shruti, who loves to talk on anything and everything, is being guarded."

Gattu denies that he is in talks with Shruti for his film, "That's news [^] to me," he says and adds that he met her through an agent a few months ago. "I barely know her and haven't been in touch with her. Currently, I am single and working with Ubali Choudhury, on the drafts of my next film, which is based on Chetan Bhagat's 3 Mistakes Of My Life."

He insists she isn't in consideration for his film, but he's all praise for the actress who makes her debut in Luck, "Shruti has a great personality and is very talented. I am sure she will do very well in her career. I have seen her in the Luck promos and liked them. She looks very promising and sings beautifully."

Shruti, too, denies being in talks with Gattu for a role, "I am not in talks with Gattu for any film. I haven't gone on a date with Gattu or anybody else for a long time. Unfortunately, I don't know Gattu very well." Unfortunately? "I loved Rock On!! Gattu is a very talented director and I would love to work with someone as talented as him."

Katrina snatches another deal from Aishwarya

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Bachchan may not have come out of the pain of loosing the Nakshatra jewellery endorsement deal to Katrina Kaif last year. but now the New York actress has snatched another endorsement deal from her. A soap that the former Miss World endorses wants Katrina to sign up for their upcoming campaign. A well placed sources confirmed that the company is already in talks with Katrina but the deal with the actress hasn't been finalised yet.

If that was not enough a reputed watch company which has Aishwarya on board for endorsing its products is in talks with Katrina as well. Earlier in the year Mattel Toys India Pvt. Ltd. had made Katrina the face of Indian barbie doll during the Lakme Fashion Week. This after the company had almost finalised the deal with Aishwarya Bachchan. So when the soap giant thought about dumping Aishwarya it did not surprise many.

Analysts believe Aishwarya who is the wrong side of 30 is slowly loosing her appeal over the younger girls. When L'Oreal hired Sonam Kapoor to endorse its product it was evident that Aishwarya's brand value had certainly taken a hit. Sonam made matters worse for the actress when she stated that she was youth face of the product while Aishwarya would appeal to the older women. Ash did not take this lightly and made sure Sonam's red carpet walk at Cannes was cancelled.
